Here’s L Magazine Music Editor Mike Conklin with a Hot Tip For Your Everyday Life.

I’m seriously late to the party here, I know, but this Last.FM business is no joke. I signed up and installed some stuff, which took all of about six minutes, then typed Velvet Underground into the search box, listened to "Stephanie Says", and it’s been non-stop awesome ever since. Seriously, look:

Sonic Youth – Silver Rocket
The Kinks – Days
The Modern Lovers – Someone I Care About
Syd Barrett – Feel
The Rolling Stones – Doncha Bother Me
The Seeds – Rollin’ Machine
Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy – Hard Life
Big Star – Try Again
Donovan – Turquoise
Townes Van Zandt – Be Here to Love Me
Stereolab – Italian Shoes Continuum
Yo La Tengo – Yellow Sarong
13th Floor Elevators – Baby Blue

Yeah, Mark. The internet is the worst.

UPDATE: A few minutes have gone by, and I am now listening to Iron Butterfly’s "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," which would have been mind-blowingly amazing had it been the 17-minute album version, complete with the crazy long drum solo, but alas, it’s the two-and-a-half minute radio edit.

  • how does it work? do you have to choose the songs? each one? THAT WOULD MAKE ME HYPERVENTILATE WITH ANXIETY.

  • No, no. I should have explained better. You just type in a band you feel like listening to, then it generates one song by that band. And THEN, it just starts playing awesome song after awesome song by bands that are sorta related to that first one you typed in.
