The L Mag’s cartoonist Abby Denson–she of the delightful City Sweet Tooth graphic column–checked out the Fancy Food Show at the Javits Center last weekend. She partook of much fancy food, drew pictures, and snapped photos. Here’s some of it–follow the link for all the photos. (Scroll all the way down for the hummus busts.)

I had the pleasure of attending The Fancy Food Show last weekend, and it was amazing. So many delicious gourmet food items, so many free samples–definitely a foodie paradise. Olive oil was the most popular item (served with bread to dip it in), but after that was the cheese. I’d never seen SO MUCH CHEESE! Good, fancy cheese, so many types of artisanal goat cheese, brie, mozzarella–all of it free! Olives were the third most bounteous, and then…chocolate (like the pomegranate cosmopolitan truffle, pictured, mmm). Needless to say I’m working on a comic about some of the local sweets I found, but since it was such a huge show with all kinds of food from all over I wanted to do a bonus post about the displays that stood out for me.
