Annals of Anglophilia: Even Turtles Get It

A gentleman by the name of Drew Hammonds caught a Mississippi snapping turtle while fishing in Earlswood Lake near Birmingham, England:

“It was hissing and spitting when we caught it – it was really vicious.
You couldn’t go anywhere near it without it going for you.”

Why would a turtle that’s native to the warm shores of the southern United States swim across the pond? It couldn’t be that he was trying to get away from this or this. So hilarious! Everything’s great over here! Perhaps all he wanted was some decent tea and some nice digestive biscuits. At times like these, a delicious cookie can go a very long way.
