“Decode” for Twilight

I don’t much care for the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer: as you may well already know, it’s about Bella, a girl who falls in love with a teen vampire who wants to bone her but can’t. Joss Whedon did it better.

However, I quite idolize Paramore, and was thrilled to hear that frontwoman Haley Williams and her boys were drafted to write several songs especially for the Twilight film soundtrack. Why? Because it’s fun when bands do stuff based on books! “Decode” is the first single, and it’s streaming at Meyer’s web site right now. According to Williams:

“I chose the title ‘Decode’ because the song is about the building
tension, awkwardness, anger, and confusion between [lead characters]
Bella and Edward.”

Being associated with this Y.A. movie adaptation will no doubt mean big things for Paramore. (Don’t ever change, Haley!) The tune itself is pretty great, if you still happen to have a never-ending soft spot in your heart for girlie emo pop-punk. Which I do. That is all.
