Beloved rolly-polly, alimentary-oriented comedian Dom Deluise died on Monday, in his sleep, in Los Angeles. Born in Brooklyn, Deluise attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York, and went on to star alongside the likes of Burt Reynolds, Ann Bancroft, Gene Wilder and Carol Burnett.
It would be easy (and in our nature) to make fat jokes about Deluise at this point, but we won’t. He wrote a couple cookbooks, sang opera at the Met, and was married to his wife for 43 years. He wore a goofy cap, used his extra poundage as a prop and, as far as we can tell, did no evil. And for that, we salute him, wherever he may be.
