Tribeca came and went, ticket prices reached new highs and all the films we queued for hours to see will be in theaters in a few months. Thankfully we don’t have to wait very long for the antidote to that overblown corporate showcase and indie schlock testing ground. Every day this week, all afternoon and night, for free (!), the School of Visual Arts will be screening over 100 short films, documentaries and animations by students graduating this year. This 20th edition of the Dusty Film and Animation Festival kicks off today at 2pm and concludes on Sunday with screenings of the winners in every category. All events are free and open to the public, RSVPs are required for special events, and all screenings take place at the SVA Theater (333 W 23rd St, between Eighth and Ninth Aves).
