Serious Eats has a terrific primer for vendor virgins.

Expect to see them in other places, though: they run satellite stands at the Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene, last year they journeyed to The Bell House in Gowanus for Brooklyn Based‘s election night party and we hear more ventures outside the Hook are in the works.

  • A friend and I took the Ikea water taxi to Red Hook last weekend to eat grilled corn, huraraches and fresh pineapple. Unfortunately, the pupusa vendor was out of smoky beans by late afternoon, and we ate our plantains plain. Still, it was great. Then we ate $1 frozen yogurt from Ikea. We were really satisfied.
