Broadway-bound as rumors have him taking up the role of Billy Flynn in the Tony-winning revival of Chicago at the Ambassador Theater possibly as soon as next month. He’s confirmed to play the role in a touring production that hits Philly and Atlanta in the Fall after a successful six-week appearance in the play’s London production last month. You’ll recall that Richard Gere played Billy Flynn in the 2002 film adaptation of Chicago (the one that managed to steal a bunch of Oscars), and you might remember Jerry Springer from such quality TV shows as daytime trailer trash voyeurism circus The Jerry Springer Show and night-time talentless variety show America’s Got Talent, as the news anchor on Cincinnati’s WLWT TV until 1993, and as the mayor of that fine Midwestern city from 1977 to 1978. Appearing in Chicago, surely, is his greatest achievement yet. (Also, note how much he looks like Hugh Hefner in the photo-op picture from his London appearance at right.)
