Yesterday, Blog Stage reported that The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, a musical adaptation of the visually luscious Australian movie about drag queens that features Guy Pearce’s best performance to date, will be arriving on Broadway (at an as yet undisclosed theater) on March 6 2011. The musical began its journey in Sydney and just finished a very successful run in London. Before moving to New York it will be starting a run in Toronto this month.
Auditions will be held for the lead roles in the Broadway production in the middle of the month, but there are some obvious picks here: Nathan Lane in the role of Mitzi (Hugo Weaving in the film), Neil Patrick Harris as Felicia (Pearce) and John Lithgow as Bernadette (Terrence Stamp in the movie). Any other casting suggestions?
