Maybe they were encouraged to have seen their debut, Is This It, take the top spot on the NME 100 Greatest Albums of the Decade list a last week, or maybe it was the same honor bestowed upon them just yesterday by eMusic. Or maybe it’s the sneaking suspicion that this could become an even more common occurrence as the end of the aughts approaches.
Regardless of the motivation, though, it seems likely that the Strokes will start work on their fourth full-length in the very early part of 2010. On his Twitter page yesterday bassist Nikolai Fraiture said he out looking for a studio with the band’s manager, Ryan Gentles.
“While the guys are in LA, I went to scout some studios in NYC with Ryan today for what looks like Jan recording!!! mood = fucking excited!”
I have high hopes for this record, though I’m well aware everyone will say it’s shitty even if it’s not. [Gigwise]
