A Brief Thought on the Classic American Christmastime Film Home Alone and Its Possible Parallels to a Beloved Work of Literature

In the classic American Christmastime film Home Alone (aka Kevin Alone, a much more resonant title really), the young protagonist of this coming-of-age story has long lived in fear of a mysterious, reclusive neighbor, who is, according to the rumors, perhaps mentally disturbed or violent. Eventually, though, it is this strange, purportedly menacing neighbor who, surprisingly and with reluctant violence, defends the young protagonist from the retributive violence of neighborhood lowlife.
