Judd Apatow has only directed three movies, but with his producer credits and immense influence he’s become a Hollywood Brand, the bromantic comedy he helped spawn a genre in its own right. Now, however, that’s official. Because he’s about to get Scary Movied.

A new trailer for The 40 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall And Felt Superbad About It—whose title is a bit more clever than Apatow Movie but much more of a mouthful than its working title, Slumdog Virgin—has hit the Web. Some of us here at The L initially mistook it for a YouTube parody; if that’s all it were, it’d be a semi-clever send-up of the hyphenate magnate, whose narrative self-indulgences and established conventions surely deserve to be parodied. But the thought that we’d have to sit through ninety minutes of this is frightening. Please assign an intern to review upon release in 2010, Mark. (That’s our film editor, but you know that because you check-up on our masthead at least once a week, yeah?) When will spoofeurs learn that you can’t ridicule comedies because they’re supposed to be funny to begin with? And that goes for horror movies, too, because most slashers are supposed to be at least a little funny.

Embedded video after the jump.
