Cap’n Jazz Reunites in Chicago

In the weeks leading up to last Friday’s Joan of Arc Don’t Mind Control Variety Show, an event featuring performances by the many, many musical acts that have been associated with Tim Kinsella’s Joan of Arc over the years, rumors of a Cap’n Jazz reunion began to surface. And as usual, the internet turned out to be correct.

Formed in 1989 by Tim and Mike Kinsella and later featuring the Promise Ring’s Davey von Bohlen, the band played a short, 4-song set consisting of “Little League,” “Que Suerte,” “We Are Scientists” and “Oh Messy Life.” Presumably, lots of 30-somethings who swear up and down that emo wasn’t always lame lost their shit. No word yet on a full-scale reunion, but it would be pretty much the least surprising thing in the history of the world ever if something didn’t come of this.
