Variety reports that Katherine Heigl, star of Grey’s Anatomy, Knocked Up and, uh, I guess 27 Dresses, will be honored at this year’s ShoWest convention with an award for Female Star of the Year. I don’t know if they mean that she was the biggest star of 2009, or that she will be the biggest star of 2010, but it doesn’t really seem to matter much either way, now does it? No, it doesn’t, but still, let’s allow ShoWest managing director Robert Sunshine to defend their choice:

“Her ever-present charm and innate talent have made Heigl’s transition from TV screen to silver screen seemingly effortless. Her comedic timing and flair for acting are showcased in each of her roles and have captivated audiences around the globe.”

Are you convinced yet? You are, right? Because I definitely am.

  • Good for her. She’s successfully made the transition from TV to film–an accomplishment few actresses manage–and receives little credit for her success (box office receipts aside).
