Rihanna Rude Boy

The video for the third single off Rihanna’s Rated R record, “Rude Boy” (embedded after the jump), came out a couple days ago, and in addition to really raunchy, not terribly creative lyrics (“I like the way you touch me there/I like the way you pull my hair”) and all kinds of references to Pop art—is that a Keith Haring mural in the backdrop at right?—it’s like a glossy version of an M.I.A. video. There are blinking abstract neon patterns, fleets of floating Rocky Horror lips, animated lions that look right out of some old Nintendo game and, at one point (2:15), dozens of old school sports-watches. There is no nipple tape, but as far as audio-visual spectacles go this is pretty solid. Plus the song is excellent. (TheDailyWhat)
