Speaking with Senate Dems today, President Barack Obama chastised the party for their timidity in facing up to Scott Brown’s populist junk, and made reference to a bit of satire from your third-favorite free NYC publication (Brooklyn Paper rulez!):
There was apparently a headline after the Massachusetts election. The Village Voice announced that Republicans win a 41-59 majority. It’s worth thinking about. We still have to lead.
We’re obviously pretty broken up that the pres didn’t cite our own headline, “Yeah, So Scott Brown Won, BUT DID YOU SEE HIM PIMP HIS DAUGHTERS?” But what can you do.
We can now only assume that, for instance, Voice music editor Rob Harvilla is now secretly, excitedly wondering whether Obama also read his column that week, and whether he appreciated the wit and comprehensiveness of the concert listings. (This is how I always feel about the film section when I see someone reading The L on the subway, right before I watch them skip from Fare Is Fair and Tips for Tips right through to the Natural Redhead and the Horoscopes and the American Apparel ad on the back cover).
