Well, this is going to break the heart of all the indie rock nerds who like to think of Zooey Deschanel as the poster (pinup?) girl for their sexless fantasies about shy pretty girls and their love of wimpy music and, you know, bangs. The actor/singer has reportedly signed on to star in and executive produce a 30-minute pilot for an HBO show about rock and roll groupie Pamela Des Barres, who wrote about her, um, interactions with some of the bigger names in music from the late-60s and early-70s in her memoir, I’m With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie. So if Deschanel is playing Des Barres, one can safely assume Ben Gibbard will take on the role of Mick Jagger, while M. Ward does his best Jimmy Page. And seriously, don’t worry, nerds: it’s just acting. She still loves you. And your hoodie too.
