Phantom of the Opera Love Never DIes

Based on the many, many mixed reviews, videos and images of the just-opened Andrew Lloyd Webber sequel to Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies (still scheduled for a November 11 opening on Broadway), here’s what we know: The Phantom (Ramin Karimloo) is now known as “Mr Y,” and runs a Coney Island showgirl revue, where he lures his former love Christine (Sierra Boggess) to perform, much to the anger of his lead showgirl Meg (Summer Strallen, pictured).

Narrative, apparently, isn’t the gloomy show’s greatest strength, and so rather than summarize the ensuing action—which involves Christine’s husband Raoul and discovering the true identity of her baby from an “unknown” father—here are two helpful alternate titles that critics have proposed: “The Paint Never Dries,” “Son of Phantom.”
