- “Can I interest you fellows in a friendly game of the basket-ball?”
Holy shit. Walking around last night, in both Williamsburg and the East Village, I kind of sensed a weird, intense, malevolent vibe in the air but just attributed it to ham-stuffed Christians on the look out for Jesus. WELL, I WAS WRONG.
It turns out that Easter Sunday has become the official “Gang Initiation Day” for New York’s criminal youth, a time when young men and women demand public acts of violence from slightly younger men and women in order to establish their criminal mayhem bona fides. Such was the scene in Times Square last night when approximately 50 yutes ran amok threatening businesses, pedestrians and injuring cops. Oh, also, three people were shot. Thirty people, including seven minors, were arrested.
BRING BACK GIULIANI, I’M SCARED OF LOCAL YOUTH.
