Dr. Dre’s follow-up to 1999’s 2001, the much-delayed to the point of being mythical Detox, seems to be finally really happening, maybe. In a recent interview with CNBC Dre said the record would be coming out this year and that the first single, “Under Pressure” featuring Jay-Z (see them working on it at right?), should be coming out in the next two weeks. Now, according to NahRight, the song should be dropping on Friday. Very exciting, but don’t hold your breath.
Slightly more reliable, probably, is this Billboard piece in which “a source close to the project” claims that Kanye West’s next record, tentatively titled Good Ass Job, will be released in June. He’s rumored to have brought other producers in to collaborate on the record, with RZA, Pete Rock and Q-Tip all expected to contribute beats. If this is so, a lead single can’t be too far off. More likely this one will end up coming out in August or something.
