- “As the third Google Image Search result for ‘Sexy Librarian,’ I must admit that your research skills have gotten me oh-so hot and bothered!”
At his blog, retired librarian Will Manley has posted the previously unpublished results of a survey conducted in 1992 and inquiring into the sex lives and attitudes of librarians. (Via here and elsewhere, as the sex lives of librarians are a subject of wide interest.)
It’s partly valuable for its early-90s-vintage pop culture references, and snapshot of the library’s conflicted role in providing patrons with potentially objectionable material, but especially of note is the question about sex in public places. Particularly libraries.
In 1992, 20% of responding librarians admitted to having had sex in a library; one in five seems high—until you consider that librarians have access to the stacks after closing and that sex in a library is totally awesome.
