Noted swimming enthusiast and burgeoning headline machine Joe Lentol wants to legalize poker. With the demise of off-track betting, suggests Mr. Lentol, the city will need to develop new sad desperate venues for sad desperate men. But as the Brooklyn Paper points out:
To become law, not only would the bill need to pass both houses and be signed by Gov. Paterson, but it would require a Constitutional amendment adopted by voters through a referendum.
So, yeah. At the very least we can be proud of our assemblyman’s instinct for the headline-grabbing press release. Way 2 go, Joe!
