I’ve always found the Black Keys’ take on classic blues-rock to be somewhat uninspired. Adequate, yes, and occasionally rowdy enough to get the blood flowing, especially in a live setting, but it’s never really registered for me overall. Their new album, Brothers, has done little to change my mind, but only a monster would deny the brilliance of a music video that features a kid who doesn’t want to play with another kid because he smells like ranch dressing. The band plays a set this evening in close quarters at Housing Works. Tickets are very much sold out.
