Hot dogs

First Eater was tipped off, then Brownstoner did some digging, and now here are all the details: St. Marks haute-cuisine hot dog haven Crif Dogs is opening a spot in Williamsburg, on the corner of Driggs and North 7th (right at the top of the subway staircase), in this former luncheonette. Construction on the interior hasn’t begun, but the Crif folks have reportedly applied for a liquor license, which maybe means that there will be another backroom speakeasy bar with sneaky phone booth access just like at the East Village location? Regardless, this will fill a sorely under-served niche in American Nouveau-saturated Williamsburg, where there are so many amazing burger and BBQ places but not a single noteworthy hot dog. And perfectly located to grab as you stumble drunkenly out of/into the subway.
