Last week, following more than two years and $15 million of construction, the city opened the last major stretch of the West Side’s Riverside Park bike lane between 83rd and 91st Streets, where one previously had to pass under a road, climb a steep hill, take an esplanade and a poorly sign-posted traffic circle of sorts before taking another sharp incline back down to the continuation of the waterside lane. Now it’s smooth, uninterrupted cruising along the water’s edge all the way from Battery Park City up to the George Washington Bridge. Still no word on when the East Side will finally follow suit.
