Williamsburg Gallery Charlie Horse Closing at End of May

Charlie Horse Gallery

Charlie Horse, the great and spacious (by neighborhood standards at least) ground floor gallery started last June by Catharine Ahearn at 28 Marcy Avenue (pictured, during last month’s Charles Harlan exhibition), facing the BQE, will close on May 23, the last day of the aptly titled final show Clean Break, according to an email sent out by Ahearn this afternoon. That exhibition, which she curated, will feature works by nine artists who undermine established theories of time and posit alternative histories and futures.

Though the Williamsburg gallery scene has witnessed some major new additions (K&K, for instance) and expansions (The Boiler, Causey) of late, it’s sad to see one of the neighborhood’s more adventurous and experimental DIY spaces shuttering. Be sure to come out for the Clean Break opening reception on Friday May 14, 7-9pm.
