Ever stop to notice the sunny modernist architecture from the WB classic What’s Up Doc?, or the scintillating mountains of gold in Aladdin‘s Cave of Wonders? The blog Animation Backgrounds obsessively catalogs the beautiful but rarely explored environments that appear as backdrops in animated movies. The Toontown streetscapes from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (above), for instance, look like the East Village circa 1979, right down to the unhinged “Caution: Falling Anvils” signs. (Urlesque)
