1-Bit Symphony

New York-based contemporary electronic music composer Tristan Perich‘s 1-Bit Symphony—a programmed musical circuit beautifully packaged in a clear plastic jewel case (pictured) that plays his symphonic chiptune composition whenever headphones are plugged in—will be available on August 24, but you can get a good sense of the surprisingly sophisticated music that comes from the little mechanism in the short documentary aout the project, after the jump. Meanwhile you can catch him premiering a new flute and 3 1-bit electronics (that’s like three whole bits!) piece live on Sunday at 1pm during a free concert in the World Financial Center Winter Garden, in case you’re not satisfied with the chiptune offerings at Northside.
