Hear Two New Arcade Fire Songs, Or Better Yet Just Wait Until the Record Comes Out

You’re probably well aware of this by now, but two new Arcade Fire songs hit the internet yesterday—”Ready to Start” and “We Used to Wait.” Best I can tell, they’re both perfectly enjoyable. I don’t know. I hate to complain about stuff like this, but I’m getting really, really tired of having to experience new records song by song, leak by leak. I get that it’s necessary to share multiple tracks via different outlets in order to keep interest in your record high and widespread, but I find myself longing, more than ever, for the feeling one got when sitting down to listen to a record for the first time. The low-quality MP3s and the even lower quality radio rips that are so common these days aren’t helping matters, of course. I found myself squinting (it helps you hear better) to make out what was going on during “Ready to Start,” before giving up halfway through. On the other hand, I picked up a copy of the double A-side 12″ single for “The Suburbs” and “Month of May,” a couple weeks ago, and it sounds really amazing. [Pitchfork]
