Kings of Convenience Blow the Roof off of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

Back in February, “unforeseen circumstances” forced Norwegian folk-pop duo Kings of Convenience to cancel a U.S. tour that also included an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Well, they finally made it stateside, and Mr. Fallon kindly extended another invitation to his show, which they played last night, so quietly that I was afraid one of those people in the back would fall asleep and go tumbling over the barrier onto the stage.

  • I was at their show Saturday night and during their set, the bar was closed and photography was forbidden for the first half. They just played with a starry background and this atmosphere they created was complete serenity, even in Webster Hall (save for the occasional asshole who couldn’t follow rules). You would never know watching a clip like this, but their live performance almost completely trumps their recordings.
