Brooklyn-Governors Island Ferry

Saturday was a multiple opening day down on the Brooklyn Heights waterfront, with both the unveiing of Pier 6 at Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the inauguration of its ferry launch for the opening of Governors Island, now accessible for free every weekend from Brooklyn and Manhattan. City Room and NY1 were there to capture all the awkward politicking, starring Mayor Bloomberg and Gov. Paterson clogging the ferry entrance in a sad, generally unsuccessful attempt to get handshakes from real people. Governors Island is open through October 10. (Brownstoner)
