You’re going to be hearing an awful lot about this record in the next week or so: Our own Jeff Klingman has a review running in our next issue, Simon Reynolds has a piece about it coming out in the L.A. Times on Sunday, and it seems a shoe-in for Best New Music on Pitchfork. The gist of all the coverage will be that we have Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti to thank for the current glut of chillwave bands currently clogging up the internet. Pink is a remarkably, genuinely strange dude and it shows in his music, which always sounds just a little bit unhinged, even as he breezes through undeniable hook after undeniable hook. Anyway, the record is streaming at the L.A. Times site right now, so go check it out. It will make your day ever so slightly less awful.
