About That Other Music Festival That Took Place This Weekend

We weren’t in Chicago for the Pitchfork Music Festival, but lots of other people were, so let’s live vicariously through them via a carefully curated trip through YouTube. Hang on to your iPad (skinny jeans? vinyl? fedora? I can’t think of any other hipster stereotypes, and they’re all so funny I can’t stop). This is going to be fun:

You can hear the crowd singing every word (Pavement – “Cut Your Hair”):

‘Member when Modest Mouse used to be just three dudes and everyone threw a hissy fit when they started adding members? Here’s reason to think they’re better with more (Modest Mouse – “Tiny City Made of Ashes”):

Not much to say, I’m just jealous (LCD Soundsystem – “All My Friends”):

I think that’s the same t-shirt Spencer Krug wore at their CMJ show at Bowery Ballroom in ’05 (Wolf Parade – “I’ll Believe in Anything”):

Us (those not in Chicago this weekend) vs. Them (those who were) (Titus Andronicus – “Titus Andronicus”):

Life, affirmed (Broken Social Scene – “World Sick”):

  • Greg Kot over at Chicago Tribune has the run down on why Pavement didn’t stream, read it and weep: http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/tur…

You know, I could take this like an adult and say yeah ok whatever, not important, or I could be a “proper” fan and say YOU don’t take away CANDY from a BABY, so FUCK YOU, PITCHFORK, and FUCK YOU, PAVEMENT. There, that feels better.
