Sad Spider-Man Broadway Musical

Per an email to The L‘s theater inbox early this afternoon, we learn that the super-delayed and re-cast Julie Taymor-Bono-The Edge Broadway superhero musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark will step into the spotlight at the newly renamed Foxwood Theater (formerly the Hilton Theatre) for its first preview performance on November 14, with an opening date of December 21, just in time for Broadway’s big holiday business period. Ticket prices for the estimated $50 million show will range from $67.50 to $140, and the roles of Mary Jane and the Green Goblin have been recast with Next To Normal Tony nom Jennifer Damiano and veteran Broadway baddie Patrick Page (Scar in Taymor’s Lion King, Brutus, The Grinch). Let’s hope for all involved that Spidey does better than that floppy Seuss stage adaptation.
