Start Your Morning Right: By Laughing at The Pretty Reckless on Letterman

Chances of a song called “Make Me WannaPerhap Die” not being mega stupid are not very good, of course, and this one, by Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen’s “rock” band The Pretty Reckless, definitely is not. I don’t know if I’ve just never paid attention (I have obviously never paid attention) or if there’s been some changes or what, but I was always under the impression that The Pretty Reckless was a real band, featuring Momsen and, you know, her peers—people her age, not some dopey gang of hired-gun studio musicians. Couple things you absolutely need to watch for: The insanely, awesomely botched high note at 3:10, the bassist’s hilarious rock pose on the final note at 3:32, and Paul Shaffer, who helps out on keyboards, maniacally banging his head throughout, and Dave proclaiming “Good gig!” at the end. It is not a good look. None of it.

  • UR a dumbass. TPR are awesome!

  • First off you really have no clue… The band is a band that has been playing and touring for years together called FAMOUS…
Also when you write a review how about you try and look into the people you are talking about.
The Guitarist Ben opened for BB King at 15
Mark the bass player was the front man for Bim Skala Bim and tours with the NY Ska Jazz Ens…
Jamie the Drummer has played in NH for decades with a numerous number of bands…
So ya get a clue and maybe just maybe you will have the talent to write a review…

  • To the writer of this article: why didn’t you comment on the fact that Momsen’s voice was STELLAR during the live performance of the song. This girl has obvious talent and the requisite rock attitude.Mark my words–she has a bright future in rock music.
