The Rap Map

Now anyone can visit the sites of hip-hop history (although, obviously, some are best seen via Street View) with Rap Genius’s Rap Map, which explains all the important places in rap’s evolution. There’s always a contextualizing lyric and snarky commentary, like in the above entry about Mos Def’s old Brooklyn block, which can be mean-spirited or really, really funny, like this entry about Snoop Dogg’s mansion:

“I’ve got a house out in the hills right next to Chino” From “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted” by 2Pac. S-N double O-P raises his famizzle and chizzle in a suburban, Mediterranean-style Palazzo in the upper middle-class Southland enclave of Diamond Bar (located right next to Chino Hills)

And that, from Bushwick to suburban L.A., just about sums up hip-hop history to date. (TheDailyWhat)
