Getting your work onto the walls of a gallery in Chelsea or on the booming LES scene has never seemed harder, what with most galleries refusing portfolio submissions and MFAs being required, but Curate NYC wants to make it a little easier. The partnership between the New York City Economic Development Corporation and Full Spectrum Experience Inc. is taking submissions (through October 6) for a multi-site exhibition of emerging artists. The four-part exhibition (in Chelsea, the Lower East Side, Harlem and, um, Staten Island) will feature works by 150 artists selected by an impressive group of curators (Cecilia Jurado! Matthew Lyons! Hank Willis Thomas!) from the submissions received. You can see what’s already been submitted, which thus far is a predictably mixed bag—meaning you can still totally win this thing!
