We’re just a few short months away from the annual onslaught of year-end lists, but the good people at Stereogum are getting a head start with their 40 Best New Bands of 2010 feature. You’re probably familiar with a good chunk of them, but if you say there’s nothing here you haven’t already heard, you’re probably lying. They’ve also gone the extra mile and put together a couple zip files containing an MP3 by each band, which is definitely what I’m going to listen to for the rest of the day. (As soon as I’m done watching this over and over again. Those drums! That solo!) Anyway, kudos to Stereogum for a job very well done.

  • …and Harlem is not on this list, why? I’d also put K Holes on there, and Buke and Gass. Noun even. These things are so vague (criteria for what makes a good band), how did Brandon decide on this, based on songs he heard? You can’t rate best bands without seeing the thing live, or at least a live vid performance, that’s just my personal opinion.
