Watch out, James Franco, there’s another handsome actor-turning-artist on the scene. Rubber-faced Canadian Jim Carrey is in New York right now filming a movie in which he portrays a successful businessman who inherits six penguins (…), but he’s only doing it to pay for his art practice. The Post‘s Page Six reports that he’s renting space in Julian Schnabel’s studio (which seems extravagant; what about Bushwick?), and a tipster tells them, “Jim is working on a large abstract canvas. His work is actually quite good.” How good? Well, a quick look at the man’s various photos posted to Twitter confirms, they’re not bad at all—except that one in the background right there. A full Twitter-sourced gallery of Carrey’s current series, Untitled (2010), after the jump.
