RxArt, the program to hang contemporary art in hospitals that most recently tapped Jeff Koons to monkey around on a CT scanner, has selected works by two artists who don’t immediately spring to mind when you think of healthcare to hang works in Brooklyn’s Kings County Hospital: photographer of drunk/high naked hipsters Ryan McGinley and, um, photographer of drunk/high naked hipsters (but differently so) Terry Richardson.

Don’t worry though, the borough’s sick and wounded won’t be faced with any indecently exposed youngsters. In recent posts to RxArt’s blog and Twitter, we learn that McGinley will be (or, already is, as shown above) hanging works from the series he shot at the Vancouver Olympics last winter. Richardson, for his part, will be contributing a series of portraits of smiling children giving the camera a thumbs-up, a cute-overload-inducing parody of what his typical work isn’t. We’re told it will be in the style of recent photos of celebrities that have appeared on Richardson’s blog, like the one of him and James Franco below. Perhaps Franco can contribute some performance art to RxArt’s next hospital project.
