The Cedar Beach Sicko: New York’s New Serial Killer

Suffolk County police have found four dead bodies on Oak Beach and they believe it may be the work of a serial killer.

“I don’t think it’s a coincidence that four bodies ended up in this area,” Suffolk County Police Commissioner Stanley Dormer told the Daily News.

The bodies—discovered near Cedar Beach, roughly 10 miles east of Jones Beach on the same slender barrier island—were decomposed, two so badly that their gender could not be identified. The other two were female. The bodies were discovered as police searched for a sex worker who went missing from the area in May.

The method of murder has not yet been identified, so we have decided simply to refer to the killer as The Cedar Beach Sicko. As far as we can figure/remember, this Sicko would be the New York metropolitan area’s first serial killer since the end of the Dinkins administration and the start of Giuliani’s, when loons like Joel Rifkin murdered drug-addicted prostitutes and Heriberto Seda copycatted the Zodiac.

Is it a portent of recession-era decadence?
