So I was reading the swell Brooklyn Based newsletter this morning (subscribe to it, for serious) when I read the words “kimchi” and “party” in the same sentence, which almost made me spit out the caviar-topped Eggo waffle I eat for breakfast every morning. It takes place at the year-old Brooklyn Brainery, which is sadly not a pickling company for zombies but a collaborative learning space in Carroll Gardens.
This Sunday you can stop in any time between 2pm and 7pm and learn how to make delicious kimchi. They’ll provide everything: the cabbage, cucumbers, radish, chili powder, etc. All you need is a container to bring your creation home with you. That’s not all; you can also munch on kimchi-related goodies like kimchi stew and kimchi pancakes. Have I mentioned I love kimchi? Reserve your spot now so they know how much of each ingredient to stock up on.
If kimchi ain’t your thing, Brooklyn Brainery actually has some other pretty cool classes coming up including a class on how to make microwaveable candy and a class on American sign language. Classes are cheap and it has a definite collaborative vibe, meaning people can suggest both teachers and classes
