  • The supermarket during happier times

Last Friday, three crooks robbed the Key Food on Grand Street, at the intersection with Lorimer, making off with $800 in cash snatched from a register. Before they fled, the Brooklyn Paper reports, they hit one witness’ face with a gun. After they left, they fired a shot in the air from across the street.

The robbery occurred at a quarter to nine, just over an hour before close.

The supermarket’s reviews on Yelp are generally positive; a recurrent description is “clean”. One guy is pissed though that the checkout girls always break his potato chips. Living in Brooklyn is hard for different people in different ways, hardest arguably for the pistol whipped.

  • I can’t believe y’all didn’t catch this earlier! I work at Wombat, just a couple doors down… some of my friends saw the dudes in ski masks running down the street, and everyone but me heard the gunshot (I was in the kitchen at the time, probably). Kinda scary, especially with the shooting on our same block back in December…
