Due to popular demand, the rare, recently restored “Ratzer Map” in the Brooklyn Historical Society’s holdings will remain on display until May 1. Initially, the map was only going to be shown until the end of January, at which point it would go into storage pending a proper spot. But it has proved so popular, BHS turned it into a proper exhibit, “Restored 1770 Ratzer Map On View,” which opened on Wednesday and runs into the spring. If you have no idea what we’re talking about, you can read our Q&A with Brooklyn-based paper-restorer Jonathan P. Derow, who restored the map (before and after at right), which features a generous portion of Brooklyn, for the Historical Society.
