For our readers who may not be familiar with your work, what’s the most accurate thing someone else has said about it?
“There’s too much sex in it.” -My mother.
What have you read/watched/listened to/looked at/ate recently that will permanently change our readers’ lives for the better?
The Room by Tommy Wiseau, who directed, produced [and executive-produced! -Ed.], wrote and starred in the movie. If you are a connoisseur of bad movies like I am, this will be the pinnacle of your bad-movie watching career, and make all the other bad movies seem… not so bad.
Whose ghostwritten celebrity tell-all (or novel) would you sprint to the store to buy (along with a copy of The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius so that the checkout clerk doesn’t look at you screwy)?
Any celebrity tell-all that wasn’t ghostwritten.
Have you ever been a Starving Artist, and did it make you brilliant, or just hungry?
Mostly just delirious. In St. Louis, 2007, you could buy black beans, Prego, an onion, and white rice for four dollars and fifty cents, and the meal would last for two days.
What would you characterize as an ideal interaction with a reader?
A conversation in which I did not utter the phrase “my book.”
Have you ever written anything that you’d like to take back?
My 8th grade diary, the one my mother read.
