Armory Week 2011: Two Mysterious Sculptures Spotted at Art Brooklyn

Over on In The Air we read that the artist who installed the giant camouflage pants seen above at Art Brooklyn‘s 81 Front Street space in Dumbo—who was hard a work drilling when we peeked in on Thursday afternoon—fled before anyone could ask him who he was, what the piece was called, or whether it was even officially part of the fair. But a look at the Art Brooklyn program offers a pretty big clue…

One of the artists included in the James Kalm-curated Brooklyn Art Now show is Tom Broadbent, with his piece “Floating Camouflaged Pants” Manhattan Bridge Tunnel proposal. The Manhattan Bridge archway (or tunnel) is about a block from the place where these giant floating camouflage pants have been installed… Well played, Mr. Broadbent. In much simpler to attribute unauthorized sculpture installations, there’s this at the corner of Jay and Front Streets:

Olek at Art Brooklyn

That would be Agata Olek, a semi-frequent knitter of bicycles in Dumbo. Here’s another view, for good measure.
