We first heard about it last December, and now it’s time for the Brooklyn Flea to step out for the spring and summer: Sunday (not Saturday, as reported in the Brooklyn Paper) will mark the weekend shopping destination’s debut on the Williamsburg waterfront. The Flea will take up the waterfront lot along the East River between North 6th and North 7th Streets every Saturday from April 3 through November 20.
The Flea’s winter location, in the lobby and basement vault of the old Williamsburg Savings Bank building in Downtown Brooklyn on Saturdays and Sundays, will be closed during that time. Meanwhile the three-year-old weekend institution’s flagship location at Bishop Loughlin High School in Fort Greene will return to its Saturday schedule for the same period, kicking off the season on April 2 and continuing through November 19.
The new waterfront location in Williamsburg (on a lot provided by condo developers with plans to build a high rise on the spot in a few years!) is roughly the same size as the Fort Greene location, so expect about 140 vendors, with some new and local additions. And the forecast for Sunday is promising.
