Rosie Perez, Ted Hope, Todd P Join Northside DIY Film Competition Jury

New at Northside Film this year is our DIY film competition, in which upstart moviemakers will screen their shorts and features UnionDocs in Williamsburg, vying for cash and support for future projects. We’re pleased to announce three members of the DIY Film Festival jury:

Rosie Perez, actress, Spike Lee muse, Puerto Rican-American activist, woman with a heart of gold.

Ted Hope, venerable indie-film producer, enthusiast of alternate distribution strategies.

Todd P, godfather of Brooklyn’s DIY music scene.

Northside DIY Film Festival

There are two categories of entry: Features and Shorts.

Features
Criteria: Submissions must be longer than 50 minutes, but no more than 130. Budget must be $100,000 or less.
Prize: First place winners will receive a $500.00 cash prize, a screening at Rooftop Films in Brooklyn and a complimentary camera rental package.

Shorts
Criteria: Submissions must be under 30 minutes and have a budget of $20,000 or less.
Prize: First place winners will receive a $250.00 cash prize, a screening at Rooftop Films in Brooklyn and a complimentary camera rental package.

All films must be made after January 1st, 2008.
We will only accept completed submissions.
We will accept submissions with distribution agreements.
