You know what? In the whirl of press releases, I’m not so sure we made a big enough deal about the fact that Surfer Blood was added to the Guided by Voices bill at McCarren Park on June 18. So, here goes: Guys, Surfer Blood, who, if we’re keeping track, sound a lot like Blue Album-Weezer in a day and age when not enough bands sound like Blue Album-Weezer, has been added to a bill that also includes Guided by Voices, Wavves and The Babies. We just got back from running a few tests at the lab, and it’s official: Those four bands make a better drinking-in-the-sun experience than any combination of other bands in the entire world. So, now you know.
Grab your all-ages (by “drinking,” we meant water) tickets right here for $30 in advance, $35 day of show. Four-day, all-age badges are available for $70, and those not only grant you access to GBV, but to the 200-some other bands playing throughout the festival (including an intimate Surfer Blood show as part of Kanine’s showcase on Friday at the Knitting Factory). If you opt for the badge, you’ll want to be sure to arrive early to guarantee entry, seeing as admission is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Check out this page for more info on what that all entails.
The video below shows what happens when Surfer Blood comes to Brooklyn, obviously.
