As much as we loved stuffing our faces and getting
absolutely annihilated a little drunk on the 4th of July, we have to admit we were looking past the holiday weekend to July 10th, when Cook Out NYC hits Governor’s Island. This is going to be serious, people; Dickson’s Farmstand Meats and Heritage Foods is going to be supplying the meat and a roster of impressive chefs is going to be cooking it. You can expect food from King Phojanakong of Kuma Inn and Umi Nom, plus eats from The Bistro Truck, Blind Tiger, Asia Dog, Earl’s Beer and Cheese, Korilla BBQ and many more.
Also on the schedule is a burger cook-off and Kimchipalooza, a kimchi eat-off/cook-off hosted by Mama O’s Kimchi and author Cathy Erway.
Of course, no barbecue is complete without beer, especially considering July is Good Beer Month. This year, Sixpoint will be debuting a new Belgian-style IPA, plus they’ll be serving up their Signal, Righteous Rye and Sehr Crisp. Advanced tickets are $40, with proceeds going to Just Food’s Farm School.
